The design concept of the new train is “Integration of tradition and modernity, Harmony with the scene of Hakone”. Large windows on both side of a car and floor-to-ceiling windows in the observation zones are designed to give panoramic views of Hakone’s magnificent nature. Passengers in the cross seats in the center of the cars can admire the passing scenery and enjoy refreshing mountain breezes from the openable window. The smart-looking exterior has the strength and familiarity typical of a mountain railway, and the cars are painted Vermillion Hakone, a color specially developed to complement Hakone’s four seasons.
