The themes of this exhibition design which we encountered were chiefly how to evolve “Lalique’s Light” and how to convey the relationship between Lalique and his age to the exhibition visitors. The exhibition consisted of 3 zones. The 1st zone was an introduction that illustrated Lalique’s prime theme and his age. The 2nd zone was a space for the exhibition of Lalique’s works. His works were displayed in showcases called “Monolith” which was set out in a regular way. The 3rd zone was a space for exhibition of over 100 of Lalique’s drawings that clearly showed Lalique’s working process. The main exhibition showcases – “Monolith” – consisted of a black vertical plate supporting a floating transparent acrylic case. The “Monolith” enabled people to appreciate Lalique’s work at close range and to look even look at the backside of works.
